Special Education Teachers and Related Service Providers
Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers and Related Service Providers to join our team. This role is essential for supporting students with diverse learning needs and ensuring they receive the individualized instruction and services necessary for academic success and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualized Education Program (IEP) Development:
- Collaborate with parents, educators, and support staff to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Regularly assess student progress and adjust goals and strategies as needed.
- Instruction and Support:
- Provide specialized instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social-emotional development based on individual student needs.
- Implement appropriate teaching strategies and accommodations to support diverse learners in various settings.
- Behavioral Support:
- Develop and implement positive behavior intervention plans to promote appropriate behavior and social skills.
- Use data-driven approaches to monitor behavior and make necessary adjustments.
- Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, specialists, and related service providers to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to student evaluations.
- Family Engagement:
- Maintain open communication with families, providing updates on student progress and strategies for support at home.
- Involve families in the IEP process and decision-making regarding their child's education.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with best practices in special education through ongoing professional development and training.
- Engage in reflective practice and seek feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid state certification or licensure in Special Education.
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation, as well as knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to adapt instruction and strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with assistive technology and educational software used in special education is a plus.
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction and support services.
